Volunteer at Adopt-A-Dog

If you have a love for dogs and want to help enrich the lives of our homeless dogs in need, volunteering at Adopt-A-Dog may be the right place for you. Our volunteers bring a diversity of interests, knowledge, expertise, and support to our organization.

Volunteer your skills, your time, and your energy. Help us continue to care for the dogs that rely on us. Whether you want to work directly with the dogs in the shelter or join us in hosting community events, we can work together to help find unwanted or abandoned dogs their forever homes. Once you fill out the application you will be contacted within 24-48 hours and will receive information regarding our upcoming Volunteer Orientations.

Volunteer Opportunities

The purpose of the Adopt-A-Dog volunteer program is to provide a welcoming environment where our organization can create a positive impact in our community and give people the chance to dedicate their time in making a difference in the lives of homeless animals anyway they can.

Yes you can apply to volunteer.

No special qualifications are needed but you must be over 18 and have attended our volunteer orientation.

Our volunteer opportunities include:

  • Dog Socialization – Our dogs love the company of people and it is good for them to be around new faces to help them socialize.  At our shelter, we have different areas for the dogs where you will be able to socialize and play with them, whether that be a game of fetch to get them moving or giving the dogs the attention they deserve!
  • Events Assistant – Adopt-A-Dog attends many different events and holds our own adoption days.  At these events we need people to be able to talk about what Adopt-A-Dog does and how we help our homeless dogs.
  • Dog Walker –

At the different events Adopt-A-Dog attends in the community we always bring a dog or two to show the public.  Walking our dogs around the event is always helpful; it draws people into our booth and shows our dogs to potential adopters.  To be a dog handler for Adopt-A-Dog you need to have gone through our Dog Socialization program and be experienced with our dogs.  This program also requires a training session with our Shelter Manager.
